Generation 2007
Foreword
After breaking down the department walls and going interfaculty, leaving Windsor and crossing the province, hopping on an airplane and flying to the other side of the globe, Generation is here with a greater diversity and contumely of work and voices. This edition, as we see it, is to bring the dialogue to writers and provide a forum for expression by artists and authors from across the province. The work explores many of the issues close in the eyes of young writers, the many local and global wars, questions of faith and ill-fate, style and poetics and always the many loves of our young lives. From themes of sexuality, belonging and identity to the valuable lessons of the chain email, this Generation encompasses a booming diversity in emerging voices and the broad exploration of the social complexities of our time.
We would like to congratulate the Homer F. Plante contest winners, featured in Next Generation, as well as all of our contributors. Also special thanks to all of those who helped get this edition out to you: Karl Jirgens our staff adviser; Heather Patterson; the English Department, the Humanities Research Group, UWSA, OPIRG and Alumni Affairs for their generous support in funding this magazine.
To all our contributors good luck as we move forward, to our readers, enjoy!
